How to brain?

There are various definitions of a brain. Neuroscientist defines it in neurological jargon which immediately sends a signal that the brain might be a code. Psychologists describe it as an evolutionary tool that behaves in a certain way because of the environment it was brought up in. Physicists might describe the brain as a tool to solve complex universal problems. Computer Scientists may use the word “trouble-shooter” for the brain.  On every front, there is a different definition but the fundamental cause is the same.  All want to use the brain for the betterment of something.  I’m here to discuss something that is very basic and doesn’t require complex science for it. The brain is a product of influences. Each brain thinks differently because every human grows up in different surrounding environments. The right use of the brain is when it thinks well about anything. Having a positive perception is what we call normal human behavior. Negativity is always discouraged w...

Heatwave affects Mental Health: Study

I have found an amazing report on HEATWAVE and its effects on human mental health. Oxford University had shared it on its Facebook page, and I got it from there. The publisher is theconversation.com. Since there is so much in this research report article summary, I have decided to only mention the facts that detail the results of heatwaves. The report says that heat waves – as well as other weather events such as floods and fires -  present the symptoms of depression in people with depression. It also incurs  anxiety among those who had previous experience with a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

George Carlin - Politics

Comedy is important for human survival.  It asks serious questions in so many humorous ways.  I don’t know much about the past history of comedy but today’s comedy is a pure form of rationality.  Comedians can tell the truth to a hostile world and still get laughter as a reward.  Maybe they are good at something many of us don’t even understand - the secret nature of communication. George Carlin was a philosopher and comedian.  His jokes were loud and clear.  He made the public laugh at his jokes that were actual facts, full of meaningful lessons.  I wish many more comedians could follow in his footsteps and create a world that respects rationality and freedom of speech.  In his comedy special, Carlin said something brutally honest. He made a joke about the world leaders and how they manipulate public emotions into gaining power. He said politicians are very good at using education as a tool to gain power.  They (politicians) create fea...

Creating Personal Identity

Hi, it's Waqar here... I'm starting this new series that will focus on experimenting with new thoughts based on daily learning.

How to treat knowledge inside the entertainment territory?

There used to be a time when there was no TV.  At that time, people used to live a happy life because they didn’t yet discover TV.  It was only when our elders invented TV that people started spending time in front of screens as it had got the most amusing entertainment shows. The life inside that little frame became the reality of life.  Each individual that appeared on screen was a fully trained actor who knew how to get the attention of his viewers.  Colors used in the background were psychologically tempting, and the discussions were scripted that successfully kept people on the hook for hours. In the last decade of the 20 th century and the 1 st decade of the 21 st century, over-the-top platforms, thanks to the Internet, have made entertainment further easier to access. While the explosion of entertainment is obvious to everyone; however, it is about time to define what impacts it has on our minds. One century back, knowledge was the center of every discussio...

Exercise Being Civil

Everyone agrees against true philosophy, but it gets tough when personal stakes lie over the lying business.  Still, one must be willing to accept the truth.  Do not trade your intelligence for cheaper ignorance.  It doesn’t suit you as a human. Everyone knows how to curse, and to a certain extent fight with others, but the one who restrains always makes other people’s hearts warm and respectful towards himself. Being-civil means following the most difficult path in life.  When it’s easier to achieve something by simply lying, telling the truth and sacrificing personal interest isn't easier either.  But it is what honest and civil people do. In Sindh, there is a viral infection of cheating culture.  Students pass their exams through WhatsApp groups.  Those who provide the material in their WhatsApp groups are their teachers and parents.  Whether they successfully achieve top marks through the cheating method or not; they can still go for another o...

World Beyond our lies

The Smart Perspective | New Series #1 Do what is right In a growing polarized world of social media where everyone’s anger is somehow your problem, and if you don’t take it seriously you become less of a human being. It is time to redefine some priorities. Peer pressure can be seen gaining popularity on Twitter. As a consumer, you are forced to read someone else’s complaints and expected to show solidarity as if it has any value to add to your life (i.e. Omg this airplane company is worse; they delayed our flight for three hours, etc.) Life is precious. Don’t take it for granted. At a young age when most of our responsibilities lie on the shoulders of our parents, we create this illusion that making wrong decisions will have no repercussions on our lives at all. It is not the correct understanding of how life works. You may feel an intense urge to listen to music while there’s a plethora of work left on your desk. I want you to do justice with your life. Pick up on your work beca...
