Is Multi-verse theory still alive?

But whether the universe we have found after Big Bang is unique or there is the possibility of its other copies in this ever-increasing dark space, remains undefined. String theory was the only hope for a few people to provide evidence that there's more to this Universe. However, where there were true believers of String theory who defended multiverse to their throats, there were also some of the strongest protests from the other side who firmly rejected the very idea of Multi-verse. But unlike the neuro-cognitive field of the brain, which for most of human history has remained mysterious, the Universe theory has been under various debates for centuries and we know a lot about it.
